I Pledge Allegiance to Flag, of the United States of Wale.

For those of you that have been living under a rock or behind some country music jute joint in Alabama that don’t know, Wale is one of the hottest rappers out right now. In 2008, Wale was signed to Interscope Records where he released a Seinfeld themed mixtape entitled The Mixtape About Nothin. He followed it up with his first solo album Attention Deficit which included hits like “Chillin" featuring Lady Gaga (before she was thee “Lady Gaga”) and Pretty Girls featuring Gucci Mane. In 2009 He signed with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation and followed up in 2010 with More About Nothing, the sequel to his 2008 release on his own label The Board of Administration. Just last year Wale signed with Maybach Music Group and released a compilation album with his label mates they entitled Self Made Vol. 1, which reached number 5 on the Billboard 200 chart. Wale released his most recent solo project Ambition on 11.1.11. It received rave reviews and also placed in the top 5 on the Billboard 200 chart peaking at number 2. All of these albums are available for purchase on iTunes as well as MMG’s newest work, Self Made vol. 2.
Somewhere in the beginning, a Virginia native, Aaron Turner felt something in the music that just might have been more powerful than what any of us felt at that point. Somewhere between the honesty, the realness, and the sneaker addict prose Aaron pledged allegiance. In 2010 Aaron, better known as @Uptownroamer stared the fan page @WaleNation paired with the Blog About Nothin to support his favorite rapper who he felt wasn’t getting his proper shine. Like all good things WaleNation started out small, but now boasts over 2,700 twitter followers. Which include none other than Wale himself, Rick Ross, The Board of Administration and Maybach Music Group. It is undeniable that the #WaleWednesday founder is on the path to success. His proudest moment thus far was a shout out from Wale at a concert at his college last year and a personal compliment from him on twitter about The Blog About Nothin.
Today Aaron runs Black Cobain’s YouTube page, is a BOA intern and social media coordinator. As for the future he aspires to have a career in A&R and in his words “find really dope artists that want to make really dope music. Like Andre from Brown Sugar, that’s my movie. That’s what inspired me to want to be an A&R”.  Aaron is also currently working on a company of his own, which by the sound of it you all should be on the look out for. Don’t worry though; I am covering the debut here. Lastly, I asked Aaron to assemble his dream concert lineup, in which the artists could be living or dead and he answered: “Biggie, Big L, J Dilla on the turntables, making beats or something maybe get a cypher in that joint, Nas, Wale of course, Common, Black Star and the Roots as the house band”. Now I can’t speak everyone, but I definitely would buy tickets. All in all I think it’s safe to say that @Uptownroamer is the chief ambassador of all things Wale. Making the DMV proud.

Welcome

Music has always been my absolute most favorite thing in the entire world. Every since I can remember all I wanted to do, along with anything else, was hear music. I would sit in my room for hours and listen. The words and the stories were always so beautiful and different. It seemed like music feed my urge to discover and learn. Like music and I grew up together. My first love. My first best friend. No matter the mood or the issue or the point in my life there has always been a song to comfort me, be on my side and agree with all of those feelings I had that I couldn’t explain. Through this blog I will share all of the stories, good, bad, and ugly. The emotion, the talent it takes. My whole life narrated through all of our favorite artists.  Shout out to you for reading.
